Although I love midcentury (the last one) styles its a fact that none of the dresses I have that are originals from the era. I've looked, but there are too few remaining in the world and the ones that do exist, aside from being already sold to someone else, are all about 2/3 the size I would need them to be in order to have any hope at all of fitting into them. This dress, then, which was catalogued by jcrew in 2006, instantly became the most authentically vintage item in my collection as well as the oldest by a good 10 years. Other than having possibly been stored improperly, Its mint as best as I can tell--the fabric itself, as well as the tags and other attachments were all pristine. Still its hard to imagine that it was made new only to be passed around to god knows who or where for 18 years waiting for me to come along and finally wear it. Either way, its long journey has ended and its found a good home! There is more backstory on my wall and a few more photos there too.

I'm a happily married, 40+ suburbanite who spends nearly all of my time doing fairly typically suburbanite things. From the outside I don't think it would look like anything that distinguished, but from the inside, I love seeing the life I have and the people and relationships and places in it all developing and changing. Dressing didn't figure in until well after that story began, so each storyline has been adapting to the other. Although I first dabbled in intermediate school with one of my sisters dresses, I didn't dress at all after that until I rediscovered it about 10 years ago, and have been learning little by little and finding new happiness in it continually as I go. I'll always keep trying new styles and silhouettes, but I feel like the way I dress now is pretty close to the final form it will take--when I have time and space that I can do a complete job of it, and be immersed in it, and only as often as circumstances allow for that. However, in crossdressing as in life, as difficult as it can be for us, whether in long term relationships or trying to find others like yourself, the more you share the more will come back to you.

    Jill,

You are a girl that makes cross dressing pretty to look at, as it should be.
I try to do the same when I dress.

Nevertheless, you look beautiful in this vintage dress, as always!

    Classically cute!

How would you describe the color? It’s hard to tell, but is there a slight berry tint? Or is it a glossy brown that is shimmering something in the garden? Inquiring minds must know.

Hi Jill. I agree with a lot of the previous comments. You have set the standard for what quality crossdressing looks like. I always learn something from your great look, wonderful vintage style, photo perfect setting and overall appeal.
