Felt so great going out, did another outing in a different city the next night. New locations, new bars. I usually park very close to where I’m going, never liked being too far from my car for some reason. With all the compliments and encouraging words from everyone on CDH, I decided to go for it and just be totally out and about for everyone to see. I parked at the end of a long stretch, over 3/4 mile, I know because I drove it 5 times getting up my nerve, of all shops and restaurants and lots of people. I nervously got out and started walking, the farther I went the less nervous I became, plus the pair of heels I was wearing were so comfortable. To my surprise no one was giving me a second look. When I got to the end of the street I turned the corner and kept going on to the main traffic area of town. Remembered I did have to walk back the same distance, so after about 10 minutes I started my journey back. Never been that far from the safety of my car before and it was freeing. On the walk back I stopped in at a couple of the bars, was out for over two and a half hours. This is going to begin a new chapter for Lisa, park the car and just go, maybe even get an Uber from there and get dropped of in a different part of town. The community here at CDH has changed everything for me, truly don’t feel alone anymore!

What a great story, Lisa. And good for you! CDH has had the same influence on me. I also was fearful early on about going out in public. But the support and love I received from this community helped me to overcome those fears. It looks like it’s had the same benefit for you. Thanks, CDH has become a part of my life now and is allowing Lisa to blossom. It is hard when you’re all alone on your journey. Was freeing when my wife finally knew, no more hiding my clothes but she did not want to be a part of Lisa’s life. This still left a whole that the members here have filled.

Dear Lisa,
Is thrilling a good word to use for that stroll of yours? …and, it was a ‘SOLO’ stroll. If you could have only recorded ALL YOUR THOUGHTS… from the moment you opened the door of your car until you returned from your “SPACE WALK”. There are events in our lives that simply cannot be put into words. All I know is that you demonstrated the courage we all hope for at some of life’s challenging times.

Yes, very thrilling!
