I picked up this dress at a local thrift store. I was attracted to the silky colorful skirt and the fact that it had a side zipper. I thought, brilliant, this has to be the answer to the age old problem of trying to zip up your own dress. I couldn't have been more wrong. After 20 minutes of struggle i finally got it zipped. The only thing that kept me going was that the silky skirt felt so good brushing against my legs that I really wanted to see it on. The zipper itself may have been part of the problem but I can safely say that the side zipper does not make things easier although it seems like it should. So a couple of life lessons to share are if you want to live long and prosper don't volunteer for the away team and if you want to take a side zip dress to where no crossdresser has gone before you will probably be late. Back to the thrift store for you my side zip friend where you can lure in the next unsuspecting customer with your pretty skirt.

77 year old crossdresser. Love dressing and feeling girly but in the closet for now. My mother wanted a girl and kept me in dresses with long curly hair until at 2.5 years old my uncle had enough and took me to a barber and insisted my mother cut out the dresses. My nana was raising a female cousin and provided daycare when I was young. If I had an accident she would put me in my cousins panties until my mom came home. It was suppose to teach me to be more careful but I loved the panties. My earliest memories are my trying on my cousins clothes and I have wanted to dress as a girl my whole life. I tried to fight against this by being a manly man. I played ice hockey and joined the Marines, got married and raised a family. The need to dress never went away although I fought hard against it and went through several wardrobe purges. I enjoy cooking, wine, music, photography, shopping of course and most outdoor activities including golf, skiing, skating, and hiking.

It certainly is a lovely skirt Michelle and you look very elegant in it. Shame it’s got to go back. I’d never heard of a side zip dress! xx.

Dressing up is a process, Michelle. And not always an easy one. I’m sorry you had trouble with your side-zip dress. I have a few of those too, and I’m not necessarily a big fan of them.
But the end result is what matters. And that dress really is beautiful, and you look marvelous wearing it. You may have wound up returning it, but you’ll always have this wonderful photo.

The end results are what count and you look terrific! Really worth all the effort. Wax lube that darn zipper for future use. I’m sure you’ll be wearing it again. Happy National Flower Day! 🌼 🥰

Way to persevere Michelle, you still look pretty though, even with the side zipper. I also have one and have had the same experience. I finally just slipped the dress on without undoing the zipper.

A lovely photo Michelle. All the effort was worth it. My wife bought a dress with a long side zip years ago and couldn’t zip it up so I had to do it for her. Years later I stupidly bought one myself. I gave up trying and sent it back. Side zips look like a good idea but they are a nightmare! xxx
