Well unless you’ve been in the wilderness or in a bubble you’ll be aware of the current “stuff” going on.

There is going to be a period of time when we must disconnect from physical social connection (with our friends and family too), but that doesn’t mean we disconnect completely. Our new online worlds and lives mean that even with social distance we can still interact. Be it with video chats or phone calls or even just chatting on text forums, but we can still connect.

I guess this is a little note about not being alone. Or rather not allowing yourself to disconnect completely. Get up and get dressed. Plan your day and make time to connect and even disconnect (time alone will be important too). Soak up the sun when you can, get fresh air and find something positive to focus on. Try not to focus too much on the craziness going on in the world.

For some the opportunity to dress or even participate in what we do will be limited or even almost non-existent.

Don’t despair.

There are options.

Maybe you can’t share a drink with friends, but via group video chats you can still chat and share some time (and your outfits). The public galleries (and private) mean you can share pics of your outfits if video isn’t an option. And maybe you can also share a pic or two in the chat rooms.

But the important thing is not to self-isolate completely. Stay connected. Get your ass into chat and say hi. Maybe there are others there that need some interaction as well, make times to meet up online and keep each other sane.

Use down time to practice makeup or finally have the wardrobe clean out and organization you’ve been thinking about. Use the time to come up with outfits combos (take a pic of the top with bottom etc for reference later) and figure out the gaps you need to fill. Online shopping may still be an option or maybe just build up a shopping list with some pics of what you want for those first shopping forays.

For those in positions where they can’t hide away. Stay safe. Do what you need to get through this and don’t disconnect. We aren’t on the front lines with you, but we can be there to support you when you need us. There will be others in the same boat as you, catch up and chat. Even if its just to express your frustrations, others may have options on how to cope that you aren’t aware of.

Let’s face it, there is going to be a time of madness coming and we need to accept that some stuff isn’t going to be the same, and there will be new normal, but things will improve. We will get through this. If we band together and help each other, we can do this.

Great article and well said Sarah. I ‘ve missed talking with you recently- my sleep patterns are messed up and of course we have the big time zone difference. You have been and continue to be an inspiration to me and others!

Thank you, Sarah, well said! I know that some of us, including myself have pulled back a bit and have been more introverted, your words are encouraging to us all to stay connected with our amazing online community that has opened many our eyes and hearts knowing that we are not alone. So I urge us all to read and follow Sarah’s sound advice and for those that may not have a chance to chat or come on as frequently, we are still here and we care!
