United We Stand - LGBT

To the dear readers and members of Crossdresser Heaven,

Today is a new day. As happens every 4 or 8 years, we welcome in a new President to lead our nation.

As a rule we keep politics off Crossdresser Heaven. Political discussions can quickly become emotionally charged and divisive, and erode the purpose of Crossdresser Heaven – To create a safe, welcoming and supportive place for everyone in the transgender community. This includes those in our community with political views that may differ from our own.

Yet I think it is also important to address a topic that could impact many in our community. Our President has said some troubling things in regards to rights of those in the LGBT community, and many on Crossdresser Heaven have shared their concerns with me. I cannot say which statements of his are sincere belief, which are politics and which are just off the cuff remarks meant to garner media attention. I also don’t know whether and how laws will change for our community.

But I do know this

Today 4 million people around the world marched for equality – for women, for minorities and for those in the LGBT community. Society has made a powerful statement about love and acceptance.

Progress will always have setbacks – it’s the natural order of things to move forward at times, to pause or even regress before once again marching ahead. I cannot say it better than this:

I see that the path of progress has never taken a straight line, but has always been a zigzag course amid the conflicting forces of right and wrong, truth and error, justice and injustice, cruelty and mercy. – Kelly Miller

Our community is strong – The LGBT community has suffered through injustices far greater than any on the near term horizon. It has been a struggle to attain recognition for even our basic humanity. Those battles have been fought, they have been won, and if must be, they will be won again.

You are always welcome here – Crossdresser Heaven will remain a safe, welcoming and supportive place for everyone in the transgender community. We will keep building our community, creating bonds of compassion and a place where you can be who you are.

If you are hurting or afraid please reach out to our Ambassadors, join chat or start a forum thread.

We will stand united, and united we will stand against any who would tear us down.

I’m passionate about creating a safe space for everyone in the transgender community to find laughter and friendship on their journey. I completed my physical transition in 2011 and through it I lost everything, and gained everything. I am blessed that I was forced to gaze inward and embark on the journey to discover and live my authentic self. My deepest wish is that all who wander here may find peace, happiness and freedom.

April,

I have been reading this site for several months now. CDH is a support site as you stated above. Your reply to Bronwyn is very well stated. I hope to get more involved with this site in the future. Best Regards, and Cheers!

I agree that politics and religion should be left out. Having said that, I feel it is incumbent on all of us to support each other, as the future seems rather murky. There is a sense that things are going to get rough for those who are “different." As a long-time CDer, I have always felt “different," however, here at CDH I am accepted and have made some lovely friends. Let us have each others back and stand strong and proud.

It’s been a long, grueling, monotonous, unpleasant, tiring constant diet of politics for the past 2 years during the campaign.

When Obama was elected I said give the guy a chance and I think we should do the same for the new guy.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about shoes!

It never ceases to amaze me that those who so strongly defend the right to be inclusive and accepting are often times the first to make those with different views and perspectives the subject of exclusion– denying them the very rights they purport to believe in and defend. I am a CD, I was born that way, I love to dress and present as a woman, I want to be accepted for who I am and not judged by how I dress; and yes, God forbid, I am one of those horrible conservatives that believes in free speech and universal… Read more »
