United We Stand - LGBT

To the dear readers and members of Crossdresser Heaven,

Today is a new day. As happens every 4 or 8 years, we welcome in a new President to lead our nation.

As a rule we keep politics off Crossdresser Heaven. Political discussions can quickly become emotionally charged and divisive, and erode the purpose of Crossdresser Heaven – To create a safe, welcoming and supportive place for everyone in the transgender community. This includes those in our community with political views that may differ from our own.

Yet I think it is also important to address a topic that could impact many in our community. Our President has said some troubling things in regards to rights of those in the LGBT community, and many on Crossdresser Heaven have shared their concerns with me. I cannot say which statements of his are sincere belief, which are politics and which are just off the cuff remarks meant to garner media attention. I also don’t know whether and how laws will change for our community.

But I do know this

Today 4 million people around the world marched for equality – for women, for minorities and for those in the LGBT community. Society has made a powerful statement about love and acceptance.

Progress will always have setbacks – it’s the natural order of things to move forward at times, to pause or even regress before once again marching ahead. I cannot say it better than this:

I see that the path of progress has never taken a straight line, but has always been a zigzag course amid the conflicting forces of right and wrong, truth and error, justice and injustice, cruelty and mercy. – Kelly Miller

Our community is strong – The LGBT community has suffered through injustices far greater than any on the near term horizon. It has been a struggle to attain recognition for even our basic humanity. Those battles have been fought, they have been won, and if must be, they will be won again.

You are always welcome here – Crossdresser Heaven will remain a safe, welcoming and supportive place for everyone in the transgender community. We will keep building our community, creating bonds of compassion and a place where you can be who you are.

If you are hurting or afraid please reach out to our Ambassadors, join chat or start a forum thread.

We will stand united, and united we will stand against any who would tear us down.

Vanessa, everything you say is so true and so relevant to LBGT community. However i think you are looking thru rose coloured glasses. CDH is a wonderful place for those that : 1] want to chat to others like them.
2} for those new to the cd life, and want advice from the many older ladies here.
3} for those who don’t want to chat anywhere else.
Sadly i find CDH to be a little lacking in heathly debate about subjects not pertaining to our personal lifestyle , but to world issues. I live in hope. Bronwyn

Bronwyn – I actually think it is wise to exclude politics and religion from CDH. I have found that one way to alienate people is to get into arguments over those two issues, especially considering the divisive nature of politics today. When I was a young man one could argue politics fairly civilly with each other and still come out at the end as friends. Difficult to do today, to say the least. I know I am as guilty of it as the next person, but too often civil debate turn into a shout fest – especially with the internet… Read more »

Normally, I would be off the opinion that politics and religion should be kept out of CDH. On this occasion, Vanessa is right to raise the issue of the newly elected president. Although politics under normal circumstances should be kept out of groups such as CDH, the president, however, will be getting into our lives whether we want him to or not. The president is mentally unstable and not fit for office. It has been known long before he was elected president that he held views that are less than desirable. He is very unpredictable and dangerous and it is… Read more »

CDH is a place for healthy debates. But more often than not, politics make others angry and ultimately make them feel uneasy or unsafe.

We don’t want to help unravel the threads that have sewn our flag together.

The Ambassadors are here to help ensure that CDH is a safe and friendly site, and help those in need.

I will Echo Vanessa’s comments at the end, You will ALWAYS be welcome here! Yes, we believe that what has made Crossdresser Heaven the #1 Crossdresser site on the web is we do three things. 1) We are NOT a dating or hook up site, if that is what you are looking for go somewhere else. 2 & 3) We don’t talk Politics and Religion on this site. CDH is a support site, not a place to vent political issues or start philosophical arguments on religion, but a site to help us normal people, men and women who happen to… Read more »

Thank you for this post Vanessa, it is a timely reminder that we all need to stick together to show the world that we are not a passing fad or a figment of their imagination. We are people who only desire to live our lives in peace and harmony and being accepted as who we really are. I totally agree that keeping CDH chat and forums free of political and religious discussion has made the site a welcoming and safe place for us all, there is ample opportunity for private discussion between those who wish to do so. To my… Read more »

I am new to CDH. I’m new to the idea of dressing as a female. I’m new to the need to dress as female. I am new to the acting to pass as female A new president doesn’t change me Politics have nothing to do with the way I feel. I wish, as most of us do, to just be accepted, not mocked or ridiculed. Change doesn’t happen overnight, as we all know. It’s slow, arduous, riddled with conflict. One thing I do know is that there is no power given to man that can make me deny who I… Read more »

All you say is so true April…I am probably expecting too much from this site. I still find the chat a little confining. And yes, if i don’t like it move on. Bronwyn

Timely and well written Vanessa and April’s comment was spot on. I’ve spent time in the military and the accepted rule of thumb was “never discuss religion or politics" and that has bared out to work for decades. Any discussions can/will lead to deeper beliefs which everyone is entitled to. The proper place is sites that cater to those or it’s tolerated. These two areas can be so wide spread or deeply entrenched that it can end up as one saying that their thoughts are the right ones and others should follow. Here, in our world, we are all unique… Read more »

Well said Aril, whats the two best things to start a war and all you need is a history book or a bible to prove it, religion and politics. Besides that I come here fro some light hearted chat with a few good friends I’ve made and to look through the forums and see if there’s anyone in a state of confusion, as many of us have been in the past, that might like a little advice or a kind word from a girl that’s been around the block a couple of times. Take care April and a well spoken… Read more »

Dear Vanessa,

You raise some very valid points, but you are also too kind. Things that have been said by the new incumbent at the White House were NOT off the cuff, but feelings he has harboured for decades. Troubled days are ahead for all people of goodwill. This is not being political, just realistic. We need your support more than ever…. THANK YOU.
