I worked at several non-commercial/student-run radio stations thru high school and college. During that time I was exposed to a very diverse range of genres and artists. Most of that music never got any airplay on commercial radio. But so much of it was simply excellent and deserving of a wider audience.

For me to pick a few genres or artists feels insufficient. I prefer to say independent music is what resonates. It’s the other 90% most of us aren’t hearing. Most of it is eminently listenable.
