Austin's Warehouse District

First things first… There are no warehouses anywhere near Austin’s warehouse district. But this popular area at 4th and Colorado is certainly a good place to go out. This area is well into the realm of “nobody cares, and barely even gives a second look at most.” There are plenty of bars and clubs in the mix, including four gay bars, a funky coffee shop, some nice restaurants, and even drag queen bingo once a month. Given the frequency of drag queen sightings, nobody will blink twice at the occasional crossdresser. If it’s your first time, try a Tuesday night. It won’t be crowded, but it won’t be deserted either. As always, tasteful blends in best. I’d say that dressing like the other girls here is far more important than being genuinely passable. Don’t hesitate to wander into Rain or OCH, even though that may not be your target audience. They are quite welcoming.
