I have done a site search for this but the search returned only photographs that mentioned eyebrows.
How many of you shape your eyebrows and to what extent?  I have recently begun to slowly shape mine so that it’s not a dramatic change. I’m not sure of how far I’ll go. I have begun to wear my reading glasses more to help conceal the change.

Please let me know your thoughts and experiences.

don’t know if this counts as shaping eyebrows, but i use my nose hair trimmer to get rid of excess hairs on the top/bottom of the eyebrows, so it is neat and clean.

      • #687910

Thanks for your answer. I started tweezing mine in this manner as well. I did go in the other day and took a few more out on the eyelid side. This seems to give it more of an arch.

    • #687849

I mimic Wendy on the shaping and method.

My brows are very light blonde and not to thick so it’s not a real issue for me. Depending on mood and hair choice I use one of 3 colors when dressing though lately I have been on a black streak. Yesterday I went with a thin brow for a change and thought it looked good.

Mine are dark and bushy. I do use the clippers to keep them shorter. I am envious.

        Thank you.

I get mine waxed and tinted.  Shape is somewhat androgynous.

      • #687914

I am trying to keep the androgynous appearance.  I have been paying closer attention to the women at work to see how they differ from one another in brow appearance.
        I appreciate the comments.

Lucky for us androgynous brows became a thing with fashionistas in recent years.

I have a standing appointment at the salon with a very understanding young lady who knows of Michelle and who does a very good job of keeping them shaped and waxed very femininely.I add some color and Michelle is good to go.

      • #687916

Sounds like the perfect world. If we could all be at that point. Thanks so much.

    • #687918

I have very little eyebrows to shape, they are sparse and what is there is gray. If i were to shape them I would have one at all. I simply trim the stray hairs to make them even and use an eyebrow pencil. Easy and basic, not terribly femme but not real masculine either, probably the only way for me.

      • #687923

Thank you. Mine are generally dark but I am getting a few grey hairs coming in.

I have been waxing and shaping them for over a year.  I had very bushy brows, so they are in check. Just this last visit I asked about tinting, but didn’t do it, maybe next time.

My brow bone shape limits how far I can go shape-wise.

      • #687925

The professional shaping would be wonderful.  I am so envious of all you that can have this done. Thanks.

    • #687934

What you see in my photos is actually the natural shape of my eyebrows, courtesy of inheriting my mother’s facial features. I do use tweezers to pluck a few rogue hairs, bit the shape is the way they came. My hair is blonde, my eyebrows and lashes are light, so I do use eyebrow pencil and mascara to darken them.

      Hugs,

Wow, your eyebrows look wonderful. Thank you for joining the conversation.

    • #687953

Hi Leena i don’t shape my eyebrows because I’m married and i think my wife would think I’m a bit weird, if i was single then i would have them done all the time,

      Hugs Rozalyn X 🎀

      • #687971

Rosalyn, I understand your predicament. I wasn’t out with my wife for so many years. Thanks.

    • #687990

I trim mine every week, I have also shaped them a little
If you use brow wax or beard wax, you can really shape them the way you want

I haven’t tried any wax on my eyebrows, I’ll have to look into that. Thank you.

    • #688041

I shape mine as best as I can. They are misshaped and sparse from sliding down the road on my face. But they are kind of shaped narrow with a arch.

      • #688088

I think the arch is kind of key to the look. Thanks.

    • #688085

I started tweezing some of the rogue hairs to prevent the unibrow look (there weren’t many) and have my hairdresser trim my eyebrows when I get my haircut – I would love to grow out my hair but I’m a bit sparse on top so keeping it short helps me to not be as hot and sweaty when I wear my wig.  I do need to get an eyebrow pencil to help shape them – my wie sid I can use hers but I prefer to have my own.

I haven’t tried using an eyebrow pencil yet.  I’ll have to look into that.  Thanks.

        • #688091

          Leena –

When I first gor my make up my wife showed me how to apply it and used her eyebrow pencil to shape  my eyebrows.  She said I could use hers if I wanted to, I have once but feel funny doing so.  She keeps her make up in a make up bag and I feel like I’m invading her space if I go in it.  I need to get my own as well as eyeliner.  It can make a difference.

          • #688196

I promised my wife that I would never use her makeup or wear her clothes when I came out to her.

          • #688222

best way to be – my wife mentioned sharing each others clothes so long as we ask first – hasn’t happened yet though

I Started getting mine trimmed and shaped with a brow specialist at Ulta. Each time I go I have her take a little more off of the bottom to gain a bit of an arch and to make more feminine. Suttle changes don’t seem to get noticed. With a wife and two grown daughters along with two barely teen granddaughters. The girls pay attention to these things but they dont seem to notice gradual changes.

      • #688194

Women definitely notice those things more. My wife’s sister and sister-in-law seem to notice any little thing that I change. I had been using a clear matte finish finger nail polish and they commented on it.  Thanks.

    • #688730

      Hi Leena
My male alter ego decided years ago that really short hair is better under my wigs, the upshot was my eyebrows looked odd with really short hair. Even my wife said the big eye brows were odd so I keep them well trimmed and I have no questions why.

      • #688757

That works out. I have no such excuse for my trimming. Thanks.

I’m right on the edge of them being noticeable and I am slowly making them thinner and more arched as time goes on. My eyebrows used to be wild and woolly. I started off plucking all the stragglers, widening the gap between them and trimming their length. Then I started removing hair from the area below the brows and above my eyelids. It’s been a year in the works.

I also use an eyebrow pencil to darken them a bit when I’m not in guy mode. I used to hate them and now I’m pretty happy.

I have shaped mine as far as I think I can go without being obvious and I regularly groom them. When I dress I use a brow stencil stamp that I absolutely love.

      Hugs, Liara

      • #689050

Where did you get your brow stencil? I’ve seen them but not done more than look at them. How difficult are they to use?  Thanks.

        • #689082

My stencils are made by Anastasia and Sephora sells them. They have 5 sizes and shapes, I use the one called ‘high arch’. They’re easy to use and work quite well.

          Hugs,

Have you ever tried eyebrow threading? The MUA I go to suggested it. I am lucky to have thinner eyebrows anyway, but I do pluck the rogue hairs and a little below

      • #689049

I have never tried it. I asked my wife and she hasn’t either. I have seen videos of it being done. We’re just pluckers in our house. Thanks.

My brows got more thick and bushy as I aged so I started trimming and plucking years ago until now I have thin eyebrows but no arch. I use a pencil to darken and shape when dressed. When I was getting haircuts my hairdresser said to not thin them so much but she has no idea about Michelle. I see GG’s with all styles of eyebrows from thick and dark to thin and small.

      • #689048

I do notice some GGs with big thick eyebrows but they have other things going for them that we have to compensate for. Thanks.

    • #689319

So disclaimer: I’ve won a bit of a genetic lottery which is pretty unfortunate for a cis-male but a boon for a crossdresser.  My eyebrows have a pretty petite and delicate shape without need for intervention (as a matter of fact, when I dress I use pencil to create the illusion of longer, thicker brows).  I do occasionally have to tweeze those crazy stray hairs that want to grow three times as long, but otherwise, a bit of pencil and good to go.

      • #689373

You certainly are fortunate. Thanks for joining in.

      Leena,

I don’t have an eye for fashion/eyebrow shape (pun intended).  I don’t know what would look good on me. I think my problem is that the outer halves to two thirds are thin and wispy, almost non-existent.  I do try to keep the wild ones plucked, though.  Next time I get my haircut, I may let them trim them (they have asked in the past).  BTW, I get my haircuts at a SportClips, a “men’s” salon.  It would definitely be strange to ask them to make my eyebrows more feminine. 😁

        Sweet Raquel,

Many nail salons have eyebrow service. My son has a unibrow and has his brows waxed at a nail salon. He has also had his brows threaded. Just a thought since you aren’t comfortable having it done at your hair salon.

I too have thin eyebrows and recently had mine micro bladed and I love the results!

        Take care!

      • #689766

Raquel, I don’t know if I could get my brows shaped professionally.  I get my haircuts at an old fashion barber shop and they don’t offer shaping anyway. I see lots of great recommendations from our other members. Thank you.

Not necessarily, brow control is commonly done at most salons for men or women. I go to a men’s barber and that is where I had my first brow wax, though my previous stylist did trim regularly. Don’t ask for a more feminine look, just ask for more arch, thinner brow, or whatever it is you want to look more feminine.

    • #689531

Hi Leena,  I’m hairless for the most part as part of my intersex condition.  The only significant hair that I have is on my head. No leg, chest, arm, beard or eyebrow hair.  I do get an occasional sprout of an eyebrow hair which I shave or pluck off since it looks weird but I do freehand draw my brows in regularly.  I use a Sephora soft brow pencil from Kohl’s and then cover it with setting spray so I don’t smudge it when I rub my eyes.  My biggest problem is actually my brow ridge which is crooked due to a construction accident (hit with a pipe) and that takes all my artistic skill to make it look right.  I think that everybody here has good tips for you.  Just keep practicing and progressing.  Marg

      • #689765

Thanks, Marg. I know things will get better the more I do them.
