I have worn thigh high stockings with garters a number of times.  But I generally don’t wear them.  First, attaching the garters is a real pain.  I did it when I was very young, but I think the new garters are made more of plastic and I just have more trouble getting these to stay than the old fashion metal ones.

Another reason is my waist is the same size as my hips.  It is difficult to keep the garter around my waist and held tight unless the belt is very tight as well.  Otherwise it can easily slip down instead of keeping the garters taut.

Finally, stockings are much more expensive than pantyhose or stay-up thigh high stockings.  They don’t necessarily last longer, and are much harder to find nowadays.

I usually wear pantyhose (often control top which helps keep away any bulges) or stay-up stockings.  In the wintertime I will wear tights, and sometimes wear these instead of socks in male mode.
