I’m a fair skin girl. I’m one of those girls who will burn instantly in the sun without a sun block. Thus I’ve always used a lite shade foundation. Now that I’m getting up in my age, I’ve notice that the foundation shade I’ve been using isn’t working all that well for me anymore. If anything, it’s doing to opposite of what I want: making me look older especially when I take a picture with a flash.  The flash tends to show more shadows on my face with the lite foundation. I’ve just tried a darker shade of foundation to see if it works better, and, I’m happy to say, it does. In fact, because of the darker foundation, the highlights show much better. So to you girls who are getting up in your age like me, adjust your makeup for a better look.

Hi Edie! I highly recommend L’Oreal Paris foundations and especially their Revitalift Skin care products. They work magic! Not especially cheap, but well worth the investment Lady Veronica

Hi Edie and thanks for the info. After my laser treatments I had to do a fairly drastic change to my makeup. Not only was the color different but how and how much I put on. I guess everybody does change over time.

Eddie good to know I use a little darker than my skin color I have since I started in my late 40s.  I find it hides things a little better and gives me a little more color now I’m in my later 50s (57 soon) and I find I still like it but I do use a Covergirl Instant cheekbones and I use the medium very lightly over my face and the dark color on my cheek bones and the light color in my creases and under the eyes to brighten my face I think it works great.  But I will watch for a change as I get a little older it will be good to note.

Im kind of in the middle on the foundation. I take lighter and darker shades and mix them to a tone that works great.

I retain most of my color from the summer through out the winter.  I have to adjust my foundation slightly if at all.

My wife is fair skinned so she normally uses lighter shades. As I said above we mix and match.

Its really fun to see what tones you can make. We store our foundations in small tupperware containers instead of bottles.
