As the sun closes its fiery eye
And Luna takes her throne in the sky
The chill of night replaces the warmth of day
And the stars begin their precision ballet
The mighty owl when his slumber ends
Swoops away to call his nocturnal friends
Fires are lit to battle the bitter cold
And children gather round for the stories to be told
The lion the bull the dog and the scorpion
The ram the twins and the hunter orion
The seven sisters and the cosmic chase
And how they all gained their heavenly place
Sleepy eyes soon to be shut tight
Ready to dream away the long winter night
Sleep well my fellow navigators I say
And let tomorrow bring us a new joyous day

Hello, Shana. What a beautiful poem. It made me think of how beautiful the cosmos really is and how as a child I would look into the night sky and enjoy how much could be seen. Hugs, Allysa

Thanks! I love the night sky and I also love all the different mythologies about it.
