The bra is most likely the most feminine item that there is. It doesn't mean that it can’t be worn by men - even if they (or most of them) don't have breasts.

The bra has a specific charm about it. It can become a prop that boosts your self-esteem – As crossdressers, you and only you know that you are wearing a beautiful bra under your menswear.

Also, the feeling of wearing one is very interesting: it's like a permanent hug through the band and the straps. In addition to ending a feeling of lack, it can remind you of a number of things - like maintaining your body posture. There's no way you can ignore that you're wearing a bra.

Many men who have gynecomastia can also benefit from a bra, which will not only improve posture but can also reduce pain. The increase in cases of gynecomastia in men could enable the bra to become popular in men's fashion.

There are already types of lingerie made especially for men. They tend to be adapted to the male body, and there is less variety and higher cost to purchase than the similar female versions.

The bra has been a symbol hated by feminists because it is regarded as an icon of oppression. Don't fall for this nonsense.

They say that for every woman who takes off a bra, there is a man who wants to wear it.

One reason many women hate bras is that they make a mistake in choosing the right bra. Right now, most women in the world are wearing a bra of the wrong size and/or model.

If they learned early on how to correctly choose a bra, things would be much better.

Many lingerie stores offer "fitting" services. Every day they measure and recommend bras to thousands of women. Some stores also offer this service to men. You can take your own measurements with the aid of a measuring tape and the measurement charts that each manufacturer offers.

If you want to adopt a bra in your life, you will need to have more than one. A woman usually wears the same bra for three days in a row, so I recommend that you have at least three bras for daily use.

Women generally own more than one bra, for two reasons: in addition to needing a replacement when one is in the laundry, a woman needs a suitable model for each particular situation.

It depends on each individual person. In the case of a man, he should consider having a discreet bra, one which is not visible to other people - after all this is still taboo for our society.

A sports bra or bralette in neutral colors without trimmers or zips to mark the clothes can be helpful.

Although at other times - such as at home or even outside, on cold days and full of blouses, you can use a traditional model, with adjusters, zips and even lace, pads, and bolder color. A traditional bra lets you feel the shoulder straps and the magic of buttoning and unbuttoning the bra.

It is recommended that you button the bra from the back, but if you are not so flexible you can button it from the front and twist the bra.

In addition to many colors (yes, you can still buy white), there is a variety of prints, such as animal and floral, and fabrics, such as lace and satin.

I particularly love lace bras. You should consider having at least one lace bra.

Daily bra wearing may make you feel the same "relief" a woman feels when she unbuttons her bra at the end of the day...but I’m guessing that you'll still be eager to wear it the next day.

If you want to experience what it's like to have breasts, you can buy forms to fill your bra.

You can also try wearing matching panties... the result can be wonderful, and many lingerie departments offer sets. The downside is the variance between some men’s upper and lower torso.

The best way to find your style is by wearing a bra daily. It will help you to figure out which option might be best for you.

- Have you ever tried on a bra?

- How often do you wear a bra

- How many bras do you have and what are your favorite styles and colors.

I'm curious about your answers

@marieclaire2 My first female clothes was stockings, soon after followed by pantyhose and a borrowed pair of heels. I loved wearing my pantyhose and heels but was fascinated by other women's clothes, like bras. I would see pictures of girls wearing them. What are they? I like them. I want them. I asked mom about them. She told me it was things girls wore to be pretty. Can I have one? That's how i got my first bra.

Around 11, I began growing out of my hand me down clothes. At 13, I bought my own pantyhose, then soon after a bra with matching panties. I was over the moon with thrills when I wore my sheer to waist pantyhose with my bra and panties.

Then at 17, I began going out dressed. I tried to look like Daisy Duke. That meant I needed heels, little shorts, breasts and hair. I made breasts from some old pantyhose. When I put them in my bra, I was thrilled. I had breasts. I wanted to wear that bra with the breasts all the time.

I bought some short girl's shorts, a pair of platform wedge heels and a couple of wigs. When I out them on and saw myself in the mirror, an a amazing sexy girl was looking back. I had sexy legs, nice breasts and pretty hair. I was a girl, and a sexy one at that. I was amazed at how I looked and felt. It was a feeling like nothing else. It still is.

Mom thought if dad found some of those things, there could be problems. I was not allowed to dress when dad was home because of that.

Sometimes we can't have it all... sometimes I understand women who put their husbands in bras and panties (brassiere discipline) - it's a way of correcting the toxic masculinity of some.

Marieclaire, what a wonderful article! I love wearing a bra, and I get to wear one every day. Yes, the hug I feel from the band and the shoulder straps gives me an amazing rush of femininity.

I have 5 bras, all are Delamira, bought on Amazon. I wear a 40C, and I have had one bra fitting and that's the correct size for me. I was told at the fitting I could wear D forms. I did try D, but they weren't me.

The best thing about wearing a  bra, with my lovely forms, of course, is the constant reminder of how much a woman I've become, and, it begs the question of how much further I want to go.

The wonderful sensation of weight and to look down and see something there is amazing.

I guess I just love being a girl!

@marieclaire2 can’t believe I missed your query.  I had my first bra experience about age 10. Never forget, it was my aunt’s black super lacy longline.  Wanted to wear it forever.  Today I’m in bra at least 3 times a week for several hours. I have a dozen in black , white , beige, red, and pink.  Favorite style is soft cup lace, favorite color black of course.  Matching panties for all! Would have one for every day of the month if wife was more receptive

@marieclaire2 Well I agree with you as I wear a bralette daily now for just over a year. It has become just a part of my normal routine putting on a bralette with my panties.  Makes me have a nice feminine feeling all day long . I have now a collection of 66 bras and bralettes. Bras for my breastforms and bralettes for my daily use. Lace ones , silk ones , all kinds of colours and styles. Some I really enjoy I’ve gotten multiples in that style. Never have enough bras and I do enjoy shopping for them. I love when my wife brings me home a present of a matching bralette and panties.

@marieclaire2 I must own at least 20 bralettes and a couple of bras. I  mostly have padded bralettes which I started wearing when I first started dressing. I have various sizes so I can wear different sized bra fillers, according to the look I am going for. A bralette / bra to achieve curves is (for me) an essential part of an Anna day.

@marieclaire2 In my ever growing wardrobe I have 8 bras currently, I have to say my sports bras are my faves & I wear one every day. I've got a couple of more lacy ones on in C & D cups for dress up days. I have yet to try one out for my size E forms as I like the bounce of bralessness with these 😊 It's really just a part of my dress these days which is remarkable considering the idea of wearing one at all would have seemed radical at one time.

@marieclaire2 Really, what reservations could those be? I admit, they aren't the sexyest of things but they are incredibly practical. & they generally come with padding as well. This, added to what I have naturally gives me a very satisfactory look when I can't be bothered with my forms

In fact, I really like traditional bras: it's magical to slide your arms through the straps and then button them. But lately I'm discovering that sports bras can also be a lot of fun!

Have you ever tried on a bra?

Yes

- How often do you wear a bra -

I wear a bra every day, usually from about 6:30 am to 9:00 pm.

- How many bras do you have and what are your favorite styles and colors.

I have 3 Warner's wire free bras (grey, mauve, beige), 2 Hanes bralettes (grey, red), and 1 Fruit of the Loom underwire bra (heather grey). All are size 38B. My favorites are the Warner's and of those, the mauve colored one is my favorite.

BTW - I am one of those you mentioned who has gynecomastia. That's why I started wearing a bra.

In my case, it is just more comfortable. I was experiencing discomfort from my enlarging boobs. My doctor told me it was a harmless condition called gynecomastia. He suggested I have a mammogram to rule out anything else. I had the mammogram, everything was okay, but I still have the discomfort from time to time. I found that wearing a bra all the time reduces the discomfort, but I really struggle with the fear of it being noticed. Scared

The trick is to choose bras that don't show off your clothes and match the colors of the pieces. Do not mark the strap adjusters and bra clasps. Or wear bralettes or sports bras.

I wear these when I want less projection and a completely smooth look.  Super comfy and very affordable.  There's no hardware or built-up straps to show under clothing.  They work great if you're still boymoding.

Copy/paste the link (without quotes) in your browser.  If the link doesn't work, do a search for Bali Women's Comfort Revolution Easylite Wireless T-Shirt Bra, Pullover Wirefree T-Shirt Bra.

😂We need more bra chats. I bought one similar to the one recommended by Emily and I'm loving it - and I've always preferred bras with back closures and thin, adjustable straps. Maybe I write a review about it!

  • Have you ever tried on a bra?  Yep.  First time was when I was 4.  Got caught too!
  • How often do you wear a bra?  I NEED to wear a bra every day.  I'm trans.  I've been on HRT almost 32 months.
  • How many bras do you have and what are your favorite styles and colors?  Guessing I have around 25.  About half are from my breast form days....which now get zero use.  But I keep them with the assumption that someday my boobs will be that big!  Fave color is black.  Fave style is almost any underwire.  The ones I wear now are padded push up to give me a bit more 'oomph'.

@joanarbour This is also why I wear a bra most of the time in public, even if wearing something loose, such as a sweater.

When my wife and I first entered a restaurant, Saturday evening, I was wearing a pullover sweater with another zipper sweater on top. It was too much inside, so I took off the outer sweater. My wife resisted, but it was too warm. I purposely wore small forms in case something like this happened. In the end, it didn't push any buttons.

The sweater didn't have buttons, which is part of why it was so hot. The only button that I was worried about not pushing was my wife's.

@marieclaire2 I have 6 bras for now, as the budget will allow after purging a year ago.  I only remove my bra when I need to go out in public; otherwise it's 100% of the time at home.  I've owned many sizes and brands, from Vanity Fair all the way up to Fantasie.  Nowadays I'm looking for one in a 42A or 42B and might be otherwise undetectable with the right clothes and I can wear it out in public.  Of all I've had, I'm simply in love with two Bali 42B bras, "One Smooth U" one in pink and the other bright white.  Although I can't fill them without help, I've determined if I ever get top surgery, this is the size that is perfect for me emotionally.  And, it turns out the white one "shows through" so many tops I'm overjoyed every time I walk by a mirror.

@marieclaire2 When I first started dressing, bras were one of the first en femme items that I bought. I now have a variety of bras; some work, some don't. At least some of these are not appropriate for CDs. Breast forms falling out of cups is not cool.

Colours matter. Sure, we can get all fancy with leopard spots or deep solids, but if the CD wants to stay under everyone else's radar, the outer clothes need to be chosen very well. It's not just the bra that is important.

Why didn't they have something to fit?

When I tried to get a 38A, I was told that the store didn't carry any and suggested trying a 36A with an extender. It worked.

Excellent article. I work from home so I wear a bra everyday. Love the feel and how it makes me feel sexy. I love my padded pushup bras that add 2 cup sizes. I also have some sports bras, not as sexy though! I have about 20 bras of various cup styles. I too love the silkiness. I have been looking for a floral print but haven't found one yet. I have a bra fetish so I know I will find one or tow!

Hi Marie.

I love bras and wear one every day. Each morning I put one on with my forms but remove the forms when I go out in public. I have several different styles and different size forms. I wear underwired lacy bras, non wired soft cup bras, sports bras, tee shirt bras and longline bras. I've worn them for years and never get tired of wearing them. At the moment my favorite bra is a soft non wired B cup bra. It is white with zebra striped cups with lace around the edges. I wear my small silicone enhancer forms with this bra even in public sometimes underdressing.

Yes-there is something special about wearing a Bra---I really don't think I could get away with wearing one for work--It shows through a dress shirt-- It's funny-when I'm wearing--I get in the car & forget my seatbelt -I think because of the bra being tight--

I wear bra’s daily, I sleep in them wearing my slips and stockings.
I own 15 so far, Satin, Lace, full cup, Demi, front closure, underwire and not.
Depends on my mood wether I wear a bombshell add2 cups or a unlined satin bra to see and feel my breasts and nipples.
For me adding a bra to my daily dress is amazing and to shop for matching panties for them is a thrill..
Just FYI I saw yesterday the Katie&Laura Panties started selling Cami sets. Stretch Satin cami in a lot of colors, I love those panties and can always watch their panties to most any bra.

Katie and Laura fancy satin panties.. they have the great panties ever. Same product as the vintage Victoria Secrets satin panties. Google them.. they now sell cami to match the panties also.. I love these and they openly sell to both genders and they fit perfect..

Yes, I have tried wearing bras, it took me till I got fitted myself to finally enjoy wearing them. I have since got so many from them.
I wear them most days but have to be careful making sure the straps aren’t visible when wearing shirts. If I can’t wear them out I do wear them at home. I do like the snug feeling I get wearing them it’s feels like comfort.
Most of my older bras that were made for me are basic 2 clips in the back and I prefer the floral bra designs they are just prettier than the basic colored ones. I found em femme the last cpl yrs and I have ordered a number of bras from them now, actually enjoy those bras more. They have light support bras that are basically pull over, I like the feel and support they give me. They just came out w/a new bra it’s a kind of a sports bra they call it a comfort tank bra, it’s a pullover and a racer back, I love the racerback design. I ordered 1 of those and look forward to it, those come in 2 colors a ruby red and navy blue.

I tried on my first when I was 10. I was at my friend/next door neighbors house and had to use the bathroom. I soon as I walked in I was mesmerized! Hanging on the shower rod were panties, bras and stockings! I reached out and touched the stockings and from that moment on I was hooked!! I stripped off my shirt and tried her bra on. It was a little tight but it fit. I now own 91 bras!!! Mostly sports bras but many lace, satin and sheer ones too! I wear a bra everyday and love every minute of it!!!

I try for the first time when I was 9 years old, light blue plain bra I borrowed from my mom. I was enchanted, since them I wear a bra as much as possible, sometimes to school. Now a days I own more than a hundred, all colors and stiles, matching panties, I wear them with silicone forms and with out, everyday and all the time, I try to be as discrete as posible but on occasions people noticed, always females but never a negative reaction. There is a girl at work that always pad me in the back, pull my bra and smile, I just love that.

I've also worn a bra to school a few times - on very cold days and with lots of blouses on top

I'm new to bras, but I just love the way you write, Marie! I got a drabby boring one, but will add to my collection with some lacy ones now that I've figured out my size.

Thank you for this well written article about what I think is my favourite item of lingerie, the only women's clothing I might like more is the mini skirt.

Have I ever worn a bra, certainly have, from starting with my Mom's about 12, then my borrowing my wife's till one day she told me if I wanted to wear a bra to buy my own!
Now I have 20-25 in many different styles and colours, from plain white to fancy pinks, reds, lacy ones, etc. Mostly I prefer a full coverage one to wear with my forms, however I do have a few other styles like bralets and demicups and plunge.

I wear one under my guy clothes from time to time, but always when I wear women's clothes, it's usually the first thing I put on, and the last to come off. When I take my bra off sometimes it leaves me sad, as then I know I'm going back to full guy mode.

I agree 100%, it’s a sad time when it has to come off. I often sit there and try to feel the last second of it hugging me. I have gotten bolder with my daywear Push up bra’s and even adding 2 cup size bra’s under light shirts, I love winter time for dressing.. so many outfits to wear never enough to time.

great article. I typically wear a bralette daly as you cannot see the straps or lines like a traditional bra would show, of course with matching panties. As we get into the winter season, wearing a sweater can hide traditonal bra strap marks very easily. If you feel daring or risky...add a small set of forms as well.

wearing a bra 6 days a week, the 7th day I go to work and have to change at work.
around 20 bras, all different styles, love the longline type of bra and then my altimeter favourite bra which has some built in water filling giving a almost B size breast without breast forms, unfortunately I can't read the label any longer and I bought it in a department store more tha 10 years ago so if anybody in here know where to buy a new bra with built in water filling then please let me know.

I decided to start getting my money back, having paid in on my retirement account for 35 years, an old school pal who was a bank executive told me tha the insurance companies who administer what I pay to my saving, they just wait for me to die early. So I decided go for the money now, start retiring and get a lot of girl time, that's so great.

100% agree with your sentiment even for those of us in the closet who cannot regularly wear them. Pulling on the bra strap, hooking the back, it's the first thing I put on each time. It signals the start of the transformation for me. I mostly like ones that are close to the skin as I don't use forms yet. I'm curious to try them; gotta be better than water balloons (which I've tried a few times)

@marieclaire2

i agree. I have forms but for a number of reasons rarely use them. Like you one reason is I want to feel the whole effect of wearing a bra. I like the feel of my little gurl boobies being snuggled in a soft cup bra. They even jiggle sometimes !!

@melissalikeslingerie I really like my breast forms. I am a plus size in everything like a 44D bra. Finding a nice bra for me is really tough. when I started wearing the breast forms it got even harder to find a sexy bra
