Crossdresser Beauty Lessons

Dear readers, I’m pleased to introduce Jamie, accomplished crossdresser and author of the transgendered girl’s best friend: The World’s Best Cross Dressing Guide. Jamie has been kind enough to share some of her crossdressing wisdom, as I’m sure we could all use some pointers as we learn how to crossdress!

A girl’s informal beauty lessons and training start by nursery age and by her teens she will already have spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours practicing and experimenting.  Mothers teach daughters how to dress and how to look after their skin. Older sisters teach younger sisters Learn to crossdresshow to add volume to lifeless hair. Girls teach each other about eyeliner, nail polish, hemlines and high heels. Therefore, many people believe if a man were not brought up female, he would never be able to join the cult of womanhood since femininity is so complicated. Some men may fear exposing their ignorance if they put anything designed for women onto their male bodies since men did not get the years of training girls get growing up.

Men wear female clothes for a number of reasons. Some men believe themselves to be female trapped inside male’s bodies, some men dress for a sexual thrill, a sexual turn-on, and some men do this to express another side to their personality.

Crossdressing is also a lot of fun. Not just for transsexuals but also for many people in the transgendered community: crossdressers, drag queens, female impersonators, and the simply curious.

Probably one of the toughest jobs a transgendered person has to learn to be accepted as a female when out in public. So, for many crossdressers, crossdressing means much more than wearing female clothing. It also involves acquiring or imitating more complex feminine attributes and behaviors - including posture, mannerisms, and speech patterns. Acquiring such skills can bring great personal satisfaction but is also necessary for crossdressers who want to avoid attracting too much attention while crossdressed in public. Therefore, the purpose of this guide is to help you to pass as a genetic female, to increase the possibility of you being accepted as a real woman in the public.

To pass more convincingly as a woman be sure not to miss other valuable tips in Jamie’s crossdressing guide.

Cross Dresser Sizes - What dress size are you really?

Men and woman are built differently. (yup, you probably already knew that). This difference makes it harder for us to find woman’s clothes that fit well. It also doesn’t help that woman’s clothing sizes use a whole different size scale than men’s clothing. What is cross dresser to do?

Fortunately, as a reader of Cross Dresser Heaven you’re covered. There are a few important things to know about woman’s sizes. Firstly, the size is expressed with a (usually even) number, starting from 0. If your waist is around 36″ size 16 or 18 will probably fit you best. If you fit into a size 6 I’m envious, but will try not hold your good fortune against you.

Next, there are two “flavors” of women’s sizes. Misses and Women’s. You will usually see Women’s sizes with a W after the number (like 16W), or denoted by 1X, 2X or so on. Women’s sizes are normally larger at the waist and hips, think “fuller figure”. This is something to experiment with, I’ve found the Misses skirts and pants fit me best, but it depends on the clothing line whether a misses or women’s blouse fits best.

Within Misses and Women’s you can choose either a Tall or Petite. Tall is typically for women above 5′8″ while petite is for women shorter than 5′4″. Though the exact height also depends on the clothing line.

The final thing to consider is the difference between men and women’s body proportions. A women’s waist is higher, and their torso’s are longer than men’s. You can use this to your advantage, by wearing a pair of pants below your waist that were meant to be worn on the waist. This is helpful if you’re taller, and aren’t able to find a taller cut.

Here is a handy size table to give you a feel for woman’s sizes. I copied this from my favorite clothing store on the web, Newport News. They are a great place to buy clothes from online.

What do you do to help your crossdressing?

Your typical male crossdresser will occasionally wear woman’s clothes. Perhaps a single article of clothing, such as pantyhose or a bra. Or perhaps he’ll go all out and get dressed up, even wearing makeup and a wig. Some of us go to the next level in our quest to…

Pass as a genetic woman

I felt I had to write that in large font. In my mind I hear those words echoing like the booming voice of a fake god on a cheesy television show. As if passing is a judgement we must face, a test we must pass or face the crossdressing shame of ridicule.

Okay, enough melodrama for one post. I was thinking about some woman who go further, perhaps permanently or semi-permanently altering their appearance. To put forth a more convincing feminine appearance, or perhaps to feel the luscious covering of feminine silkiness throughout the day.

Personally, I have pierced my ears, and have had laser hair removal on my face and most of my body. I used to wear my hair long, before my wife lovingly convinced me that she preferred to see me as a man every once in a while :) Same story with my nails, though to tell you the truth once they got much longer than a quarter inch it became tough to do everything things as easily. I get my eyebrows waxed on a fairly regular basis in a high arching feminine style, and make sure to moisturize regularly.

That’s a few of the things I do to go ‘above and beyond’. I don’t take hormones, which would probably help my femininity even more. I try to incorporate feminine movement and voice tips, such as those in this crossdressing how to, though I’m not as diligent as I could be.

What permanent or semi-permanent changes have you made to your body, voice or mannerisms to appear more feminine?

Which change were you most apprehensive about?

Learn how to cross dress

The first time a man puts on a dress he looks like - a man in a dress. In our minds we picture ourselves as dainty, feminine and gorgeous, but we’re actually a man caught wearing girl’s clothes. Looking good as a woman is a hard thing to do - just ask any lady who has spent an hour doing her hair and makeup!

If you’re just looking for some quick tips on what to wear the first time you cross dress then my previous article is the right place for you to start. If you want to look fabulous, and pass as a genetic woman - then read on!

There are seven aspects to looking great and passing as a genetic woman every time:

  1. Wearing clothes that make you look good
  2. Making sure your curves are in the right places
  3. Feminine body movement
  4. Hairstyle that feminizes your face
  5. Natural makeup
  6. A feminine voice
  7. Loving who you are as a woman

Do we want to look like men wearing dresses?

NO! If you’re like me, the image you hold of yourself is as a beautiful movie star, not a guy in drag. The truth is that we can all look and feel beautiful - but it takes some work. Over the next few weeks I’m going to share with you some of the secrets to looking like the woman you see inside - to cross dress for success.

Learn how to cross dress

If you’re eager to look fabulous today, I highly recommend the World’s Best Cross Dressing Guide. You’ll get all the tips and tricks you need to be the woman you are, and complete your male to female transformation!

Before we get started though, I want to share with you the biggest mistake men make when they wear woman’s clothes. This is probably the number one reason why cross dressers fail to pass, and end up looking like a guy in drag instead of a passable woman.

Before I share it with you, think for a moment on how you picture yourself as a woman. Let me guess, high heels, short skirt, dramatic makeup and plunging neck line. Am I right?

The biggest mistake the transgendered make is that:

When men cross dress they try to look like a whore

Not many woman would be caught dead wearing 6″ heels and a mini-skirt that barely covers their panties. Yet cross dressers try to dress like this - they’re dressing as their own fantasy girl. Take a tip from genetic woman - most of the time they are dressing for their girl friend, or to impress other woman. They are trying to out do other woman, not fulfill a man’s sexual fantasy.

Even if you’re lucky enough to have all the other attributes of a woman, if you dress like a whore you will stand out.

In the first lesson (coming next week), I will teach you how to wear clothes that make you look good, so you can cross dress with confidence.

Feminine beauty starts with your face

Close your eyes for a moment and picture a beautiful, feminine face. Think for a moment - what are some of the characteristics of the feminine face? Perhaps the high arching eyebrows, large soft eyes, and high cheek bones were the first thing you pictured. Think some more - what does every beautiful woman have?

That’s right! Smooth, clear skin! In fact, this is something that many crossdressers overlook. Along with movement and appropriate dress, your face will determine whether you pass or not. While guys may stray to other areas of our feminine anatomy, most woman first see your face. As we all know, it’s harder to pass when there are woman around.

This is a challenge for crossdresser who wants to pass well. Our faces have been roughed up from year of shaving, lack of moisturizer and no sun protection. Even if you’re lucky enough to be born with a feminine face, it will age faster unless, that is, you do something about it!

In just the last few years light therapy has shown tremendous promise for treating acne and revitalizing your skin, dramatically reducing the effects of aging. The NatureBright Clarity Skin Rejuvenation Light is one example that will have you looking fabulous in no time!

If you’re not willing to spring for light therapy, at least consider a good moisturizer (Olay is always a popular brand). The best time to start your moisturizing routine is before you get wrinkles, and even if you’ve missed out on years of good facial care it’s never to late to start!

So ladies, go forth looking beautiful, with smooth clear skin!

Crossdressed Outfit of the week: Conservative trendy

I’m starting a new feature here at http://www.crossdresserheaven.com called the Crossdressed outfit of the week. Every Friday I’ll put together an outfit that will not only look fabulous, but actually fit those of us whose proportions are somewhat larger than the typical woman.  All shoes will be available in at least 11W, and clothes will be available in size 18-20, or extra large.

This week’s outfit matches a conservative white embroidered poet sleeve tunic shirt with an olive detail skirt and brown leather 2 inch pumps. The detail on the skirt will add some flare to your conservative look. The outfit will be well complemented by a wide belt, and tan pantyhose.

What to wear the first time you crossdress

Crossdressing for the first time can be a daunting affair. Most men will find that they initially are drawn to a particular item of clothing, this would obviously be a natural place to begin. By starting small like this you will not only save money, but also work on overcoming your initial fears.

I don’t recommend it, but if you’d like to try getting dressed fully as a woman, you want to find something that will make it easy to look feminine. A skirt that ends below your knees and a long sleeve blouse is a good place to start. You may find that if you’re broad shouldered you’ll need to get a larger blouse than skirt. It is usually more difficult to find a dress that fits a man’s physique well. This outfit will hide your (likely) unfeminine knees, and broad larger biceps.

Make sure you shave your legs, arms and face. Put on a pair of pantyhose and find some low heels or boots to match your outfit. As for intimates, wear a bra stuffed with padding and a pair of panties to keep your unfeminine parts in check.

For clothes I highly recommend Newport News - I’ve found their size guides to be fairly accurate. They accept returns and have a good selection of clothes. For shoes Zappos has a selection of larger shoes (you’re likely to find you’ll need a wide, and a size or two larger than your regular shoe size).

Makeup is a bit trickier. If you want to be discrete you can order online, but it’s hard to match your color. As a general rule try to wear foundation that matches your skin color, or is slightly darker. Also, don’t go overboard on the mascara and lipstick - your makeup should accent your beautiful face, not be the first thing someone notices about you.

Good luck!
