Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic Low testosterone in men in the forum General Chat "Life as it Goes On" 1 years ago
I had my testosterone levels checked about 12 years ago, and they were indeed quite low. The doctor put me on a prescription gel to boost that back up. At the time though, my dressing was long in the past (and forever so, I imagined, since I had no interest in it at that time) so it really didn’t change how I saw myself as a man. However, it di…[Read more]
Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic If you good be one of the following women in their prime who would you be why? in the forum Crossdresser Heaven Polls 1 years ago
When I was younger, I wanted to be Ann-Margret. To sing and dance and look stunning in a beaded Bob Mackie dress. Maybe I still want that.
However, A-M is not one of the names on the list, so I voted for Marilyn Monroe.

It’s been my experience that when two crossdressers spot each other shopping in the women’s department, they must eye each other warily like cats. I’ve never gotten so much as a friendly smile or nod.
I must admit though that my first instinct is to size up the other person and make sure they’re not about grab everything in my size! Someday I…[Read more]
Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic Wigs vs real hair in the forum Crossdresser Heaven Polls 2 years ago
I let my hair grow out when the pandemic started, thinking I could finally ditch the wigs. And even though it is quite long now, halfway down my back, it’s really frizzy and thinning on top, so it looks kind of bad. For dressing up around the house, it’s okay, but I would never venture out of the house en femme with this ridiculous do.
I’ll p…[Read more]

I was on Androgel for a while. It did wonders for my energy levels and libido. I don’t recall it having much effect on belly fat, but being more active generally helps with that anyway.
Best of luck with your treatment!
Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic Sewing in the forum General Chat "Life as it Goes On" 2 years ago
I’ve thought about buying a sewing machine from time to time. Kinda don’t have any room for a sewing machine in my house now, though.
My mom had one of those big sewing machines built into its own table, with a switch you activated with your knee. I guess those were the norm “back in the day” when every housewife was expected to sew. She al…[Read more]

Glad to see Michael Andrews mentioned here. Michael’s Ann-Margret was spot-on perfect and made a huge impression on me back in the day.
Another performer who left us way too soon was Lori Shannon, who played Beverly LaSalle on All in the Family. A great comedian.
Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic Albums of the Year? in the forum All the Arts – Music, Movies, TV and More 2 years ago
The only new album I bought this year was “Voyage” by ABBA. First time I’ve bought a new release on vinyl since… well… I can’t remember when. Everything else I’ve purchased recently has been a reissue of some sort. I am a sucker for fancy 180-gram deluxe reissues of records I already own.
So I guess by default “Voyage” is my pick for alb…[Read more]
Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic Take your pick….. in the forum General Chat "Life as it Goes On" 2 years ago
It’s the natural progression of things. Labels get adopted, then get maliciously co-opted, then dropped.
When I was young, naïve, and trying to find my way, the first two terms I learned were “transvestite” and “female impersonator.” I preferred the latter, because they wore the most glamourous outfits. Plus it sounded more like a career path…[Read more]

I had one for a while, but I never considered it for dressing. There was no latch to secure it from the inside, and the door would not stay shut without the padlock latch on the outside engaged. The place did have a/c and heat, so I suppose with some effort that sort of space would be okay for dressing up.
The lack of running water would drive…[Read more]

Trolls are an unfortunate fact of life on reddit, but it’s awesome that you have the self-confidence to post your crossplay photo there. Keep on being super, girl!

Maybe… probably…
I tried to be extremely careful about dressing when I was a kid, but I’m sure like any kid that I left a trail of clumsy, unmistakable tell-tale clues in my wake.
Also, because of the confusing feelings I was going through during my teen years, I kept a detailed diary of my dressing experiences and thoughts about who I…[Read more]
Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic Does dressing motivate anyone to diet? in the forum Fashion Beauty & Makeup 2 years ago
I’m definitely more mindful of my diet because of dressing. I have a thin build, and any fat tends to go straight to my belly. I like to be curvy when I dress, but that’s the wrong place!
Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic Did your mother or grandmother pass any of their clothes on to you? in the forum Crossdresser Heaven Polls 2 years ago
My mother’s clothes were too small for me by the time I was 13. Even if they did fit me now, the thought of it is kind of creepy. I do wish I had hung on to some of her groovy 60’s-era wigs, but all of it went off to charity after she passed.
I did inherit much of the jewelry though. She never threw out anything, and still had lots of kitschy…[Read more]

Probably less about the lines and more about where those lines are. It’s rare to find men’s underwear that shows a bit of cheek.
Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic Stephen Sondheim – your favourite song? in the forum All the Arts – Music, Movies, TV and More 2 years ago
“Send in the Clowns” is probably my favorite too.
But I must confess I’ve sung “I Feel Pretty” a few times while dressing up. And surely I’m not the only one.

It’s far better to have a passport and not need it, than to suddenly need one and not have it.
Jennifer Eccles replied to the topic Church in the forum General Chat "Life as it Goes On" 2 years ago
I’m a member of the local Unitarian Universalist church. While I’m not “out” myself to the community there about my dressing, I personally know several UU members who identify as transgender, and they are unconditionally welcomed and accepted, as indeed anyone LGBTQ would be. It’s a core value.
While Unitarian Universalism may not be everyone’s…[Read more]

My mother smoked, and alas, it was the death of her. If ever I had started smoking, what she went through would have been enough to make me quit cold turkey. Fortunately, I never picked up the habit because I grew up around constant second-hand smoke and didn’t see the appeal. I certainly didn’t find it sexy.

I do love the point about how historically it was the men who were the peacocks, and in many other species it’s the male that’s the colorful, showy one and the female that’s the brown drab one. Somehow it all got turned around in modern society, and it’s demanded of us to be bland.
